Medication Support and Recovery Service - FREE addiction drug and alcohol service

The Medication Support and Recovery Service (MSRS) is a FREE addiction drug and alcohol service that aims to help people who may be dependent or misusing medications, either over-the-counter or prescription.  This initiative was commissioned by Eastern Melbourne PHN and supported by funding from the Australian Government under the PHN Program.  We deliver our service through five Community Health Services across the East and North-East region of Melbourne; Access Health and Community (Hawthorn and Doncaster East), Carrington Health (Box Hill), Link Health and Community (Glen Waverley and Clayton), Inspiro (Lilydale, Healesville and Tecoma), and healthAbility (Eltham).

We offer a range of treatment services, including:

  • Individual or family counselling
  • Nursing and withdrawal support
  • Peer support
  • Referrals to Specialists, including Addiction or Pain Specialists
  • Support access to pharmacotherapy and other allied health services

Clients can access our service regardless of age or postcode and we accept referrals from GPs, pharmacists and other health professionals as well self-referrals.  To access our service, the client doesn’t require a Medicare Card, a Mental Health Treatment Plan or a Chronic Disease Management Plan.  Referrals can be made by either calling us on 1800 931 101 or by completing a short referral form found on www.msrs.org.au.
