New Family Violence support group starting soon at the lifecare women’s centre

We are seeking referrals for our new support group commencing in Term 4, on Thursday 11 October 2018.

Target audience* 

• Single mothers with a history of domestic/family violence (intimate partner)
• not currently in a crisis (unless sufficiently supported by other services)
• women who are feeling ready and motivated to commence their healing journey

*Referral plus intake and assessment required
 

When

Thursdays:  11 October - 6 December 2018 (program runs over 12 months, during school terms)

10:00am-1:00pm
 

Where

LifeCare Women’s Centre, Box Hill
 

Program Aim      

• To provide a safe and welcoming space for vulnerable women and their children (aged 0-5)
• To help break the isolation and enable women to connect with others, learn valuable coping mechanisms, and be encouraged and supported in their healing journey
• To help people in tough places flourish
   

Program details          

Strengths-based, practical and therapeutic program developed and facilitated by our experienced team of Counsellors, Psychologists, Social Workers, and early childhood experts.

The program is FREE and runs over 12 months. Topics are covered include:

• Understanding abuse and breaking the cycle of violence
• Managing strong emotions (grief & loss, guilt, shame, anger, fear)
• Building self-esteem and confidence
• Assertiveness & Healthy boundaries
• Building healthy relationships
• Job-readiness programs
• Plus ad-hoc workshops and courses: Parenting courses, craft, cooking lessons
• Separate educational and fun Children’s Program provided! (For children aged 0-5)
   

PLUS, ACCESS TO A RANGE OF HOLISTIC & PROFESSIONAL SERVICES:

•          Counselling (individual; family; play therapy)
•          Individual Mentoring (COACH)
•          Financial Care (B-Empowered program)
•          Community dinners and events (B-Together program)
