The Salvation Army SalvoCare Eastern provides a range of Youth, Housing & Homeless, AOD, Family Violence and Chaplaincy services for clients with complex needs throughout Eastern Metro, Peninsula and Gippsland areas.

The Gateways program provides short-term crisis accommodation and intensive supports to all persons residing within the program. Accommodation is provided in way of ‘on site’ self-contained units and offsite dispersed properties within the Eastern Metropolitan Region.

Crisis Accommodation and intensive support is provided to single adults over 25 years of age, couples aged 25 years and over, and families of any age with accompanying children who are homeless.

Position Details/Information

We are seeking a pro-active and experienced Support Worker to be part of our After Hours team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients and staff outside of business hours.

The After Hours team will operate in keeping with the Case Management Plan for each client.

This position is located in Croydon and shifts consist of:

Monday – Friday

  • Evening shift – 7-11.30pm
  • Sleepover 7pm – 8.30am

Weekend and public holidays

  • Day shift 8-4pm
  • Afternoon/evening 3.30-11.30pm
  • Sleepover – 7pm – 8.30am
  • Some 12-8pm shifts may be available Monday to Friday.
  • Must be willing to work sleepover shifts

Hours and Award/Salary Level

This is a casual position. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Social stream, Level 4.

What you can bring

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification at Diploma Level in Social Work, Community Development and/or Welfare field
  • Have experience working with single adults and families with accompanying children/adolescents, who may display multiple and complex behaviours
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all clients and staff overnight and on weekends
  • Work within a case management model as well as working on a one to one basis with clients
  • Be engaging and working with the target client group to build effective relationships
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence is essential
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
