The Salvation Army SalvoCare Eastern provides a range of Youth, Housing & Homeless, AOD and Chaplaincy services for clients with complex needs throughout Eastern Metro, Peninsula and Gippsland areas.

The Gateways program provides short-term crisis accommodation and intensive supports to all clients residing (sorry didn’t mean to change this part ) within the program. Accommodation is provided in way of ‘on site’ self-contained family units, rooming house for single clients and offsite dispersed family properties within the Eastern Metropolitan Region.

Crisis Accommodation and intensive support is provided to single adults over 25 years of age, couples aged 25 years and over, and families of any age with accompanying children who are homeless.

Position Details/Information

We are seeking one pro-active and experienced Support Worker to be part of our Crisis Accommodation support team providing case management to both families and singles within the program.

This position is located in Croydon.

Hours and Award/Salary Level

This is a part time job share position 22.8 hours per week, fixed term to 13 September 2020. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Social stream, level 5.

This position will have a roster as follows:

  • Monday 9-5pm
  • Tuesday 9-5pm
  • Wednesday 11.30-7.30pm
  • Once a month Thursdays - 1-4pm for staff meeting.

What you can bring

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification at Diploma Level in Social Work, Community Development and/or Welfare field
  • Have experience working with single adults and families with accompanying children/adolescents, who may display multiple and complex behaviours
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all clients within the program
  • Work within a case management model as well as working on a one to one basis with clients
  • Sound intake and assessment skill and experience
  • Be engaging and working with the target client group to build effective relationships
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence (essential)
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
