In late April, The Tenants Union launched their Family Violence Protection Tenancy Kit for tenants and workers as a “comprehensive and easy to use resource” which aims to highlight the not so known provisions under the Residential Tenancy Act which protects tenants against Family Violence related matters.
This kit is designed for support workers and advocates who assist people affected by family violence. The purpose of the kit is to help people in rental housing to know their rights, have a secure home and limit any financial loss.
It’s important to note that this kit covers tenants in Public Housing and there is a special tab which outlines some procedural differences.
